During Difficult Times, Allow Grace to Step In

We are all capable of more than we give ourselves credit for. Already in our lives, there are circumstances we have overcome, and we wonder how we did it. There are goals we have reached, and we don't know how we rose to meet them. There are losses we have endured, and we don't know where we summoned the strength.

Looking back brings a different view than when we are in the thick of it.

During times that we are challenged, it feels as though something else has stepped in - we move differently, act with more grace and purpose, and go on in a way we can't quite name. During challenging times, we act on an amount of trust we usually don't embody in our everyday. We trust that time will heal. We trust that something else will arrive. We trust the process, and our changing emotions.

In order to let grace step in, we need an amount of surrender. We need to remember the times prior when we were unsure, but it all worked out. This is trust.

Just because we overcome something, does not necessarily make the next obstacle easier. Often, after getting through something, or achieving something, we forget that we are capable of these things. When something new and unknown happens, we forget that we have the strength to keep going.

Every job interview brings the same nerves. Am I good enough? Every first day brings the same fear. Do I have this? Every challenge brings the same questions, Can I? Will I?

An amount of humility is good. It's ok that we feel scared when embarking on something new, whether that thing is something we want, or something we don't want.

A new and unknown future is scary.

I like to remember past times I overcame a challenge or hardship, in order to remind myself that I have been here before - maybe not in this exact situation, but in the unknown, or the in-between. Even starting a new yoga practice or healthy routine can seem smooth and invigorating at first, and soon, we arrive at a moment where we question our ability to continue.

Did you know that the Universe is always with you? Did you know that anytime you are moving towards something, you are held, guided, and not alone? The energy of the Universe is constantly conspiring in our favor. We might not feelgood right now, but that doesn't mean something is wrong. It might mean we are hitting resistance, or our own ego mind that tells us we can't. The ego always tries to dismantle us on the path to the greater good - the best outcome for us, for those around us, and for the world.

You can replace fear with love.

You can practice being compassionate with yourself instead of pushy or critical. You can replace the unknown with trust, trust that even though you can't see where something is going, you know that YOU can keep going. Every small action tells the Universe that you are ready. Every small step forward tells the Universe that you trust the bigger plan.

Recall something you have been through, a time when you weren't sure what the future would look like. Remember the sensation that you were in fact being guided, that some energy outside yourself was giving you the strength to keep going. Much of life's lessons take place in the in-between, in the space between knowing, and not. Much of our own resilience is cultivated when we're unsure of our own strength, or when our confidence wanes.

If you are experiencing a lack of confidence, in any area of your life, remember trust, love, and the greater good. Call on whatever practice you use to access a higher power, or your own subconscious. Spend some time taking action, and even more time being still. While still, practice trust. While still, practice love. While still, remind yourself that you are more capable than you give yourself credit for. You have already proven this - time and time again.
